When using the show-to macro to selectively display links in the navigation panel of the leftnavigation theme, unwanted whitespace is generated above and below the item you want to display selectively.

When creating a navigation page with the following content:

h1. Custom links
* [link 1]
* [link 2]
* {show-to:group=mygroup}[mycustomlink 1]{show-to}
* [link 4]

This generates unwanted whitespace above and below mycustomlink 1 in the left navigation panel.

In attachment an example (with the actual links blurred out for confidentiality reasons). The 4th entry under the Navigation heading and the 9th entry under Other Spaces have a show-to macro applied to it. One can clearly see the whitespace above and below these entries.

This issue is solved by downgrading version 1.7.1 (installed in Confluence 2.9.1 through the plugin repository, but which is apparantly not officially released yet?) to 1.7.0.

The white space directly underneath the headings is due to a separate bug which is not relevant here.

I saw a similar unwanted-whitespace issue when using {show=to} content within a {center} macro.

I'm suing Confluence 2.8.0. As with the reporter, I solved the issue by reverting to Visibility version 1.7.0
